Norfloxacin Noroxin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
How Norfloxacin Works
Noroxin is a synthetic, broad spectrum antibacterial agent. It inhibits DNA gyrase, preventing replication of bacteria.
Noroxin is used to treat urinary tract infections as well as some sexually transmitted infections.
Consult a doctor before taking Noroxin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Talk to your doctor if you are taking any other medications, or if you have or have a history of hypersensitivity, tendinitis, or tendon rupture due to the usage of norflaxicin.
Tablets 400 mg
The recommended initial dose of Noroxin will be determined by the condition being treated. A physician should prescribe prepare the correct dosage instructions.
Symptoms of overdose include: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, "cold" sweating, puffy face without major changes in hemodynamic indices.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time of your next dose. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up the missed dose.

Noroxin Norfloxacin and Alcohol
Norfloxacin is an antibacterial drug belonging to Quinolones. It has no sedative side effects and no interactions with alcohol (i.e the alcohol for example in whiskey ,brandy etc.). Further The BNF (British National Formulary 2008) does not mention of any incompatibilities between alcohol and norfloxacin. So the conclusion is that these have no interactions harmful to the body.
But there is a different point I want to explain. Noroxin Norfloxacin is commonly given for urinary tract infections. Taking alcohol with urinary tract infections is not suitable.
